THE OPPORTUNITY
GBGH requires the services of interested Hospitalists to add to our full time and/or locum compliment to serve our medical inpatient units. Our Hospitalist program is family medicine led with four Hospitalists on shift per day, with rotating admissions and on- call schedule.

THE OFFER

  • With a full compliment, remuneration can range from $10,000 to $15,000/week, this includes a weekly stipend of up to $4000 depending on patient volumes
  • Relocation assistance includes access to subsidized housing during the transition period, along with other negotiable incentives

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position
  • Demonstrate commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self-Directed Learning opportunities
  • For internationally trained Physicians, the hospital may provide support in attaining a CPSO license under their existing guidelines and provide the necessary mentorship requirements in exchange for a 3.0/1.0 ratio. (3 years of service for 1 year of mentorship). We cannot provide immigration services/assistance at this time

ADMINISTRATIVE & QUALITY

  • Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities
  • Participation in hospital committees pertaining to specialty based on interests

GBGH is a 113-bed hospital located in Midland, Ontario, serving a broad and growing population across North Simcoe. Our catchment includes Midland, Penetanguishene, the Township of Tiny, the Township of Tay, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township, and Springwater Township.

With an operating budget of approximately $80 million, GBGH employs more than 800 staff and is supported by over 100 active professional staff, 70 regional affiliates and consulting physicians, plus over 100 volunteers from our community. The hospital provides a full range of services, including acute care, rehabilitation, complex continuing care, diagnostic imaging inclusive of MRI, and a Level 3 Intensive Care Unit.

Significant investments are shaping the future of care at GBGH. This includes a 2,500 square foot expansion of the diagnostic imaging department to accommodate MRI services, a mammography program set to launch in fall 2025, and plans for a 50,000 square foot expansion to add 24 inpatient mental health beds adjacent to our Emergency Department. GBGH is an established rural academic site affiliated with the University of Toronto and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). As home to the University of Toronto Rural Family Medicine Residency Program and a host site for NOSM’s Comprehensive Community Clerkship, we offer physicians the chance to engage in hands-on teaching and mentorship in a supportive, community-based environment.
